Institutes of Technologies (IoT) are industry, education and research working together to design and deliver flexible, higher-level technical learning to equip learn learners with the skills needed to fully participate in, and contribute to economic growth driven by digital innovation and emerging technologies.
Meet IoT learner Joseph Fry, formerly of Wadham School, who is currently studying one of the IoT accredited Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ) a HND in Computing at Yeovil College University Centre
“Computing has always been something I’ve enjoyed; I studied it throughout school and college and knew I wanted to continue furthering my knowledge to a higher level. I chose to continue my studies at Yeovil College University Centre because moving away didn’t appeal to me. I wanted to keep the familiarity of having the same lecturers who already knew me and benefit from the smaller class sizes and one to one support that the university centre offers. My experience here has been great, the lecturers are very friendly and always there to help. There’s also such a good support system in place.”
“Studying an IoT programme has given me access to so many resources that other courses don’t offer, including certain applications, like cisco packet tracer, visual box for networking and visual studio code! These would usually require a paid subscription but was free through the programme. The IoT has also given my course a high level of quality, the spec was easy to follow and supported by the amazing staff at college. Overall, it had been a great benefit to my learning experience, and the level of teaching I’m receiving.”
“Next, I hope to continue my education with the BSc (Hons) in Computing and eventually use my qualifications to get a higher-up job in the city.”
We had the pleasure of attending Yeovil College’s Higher Graduation ceremony in November to see Joseph and others celebrate their achievements. We wish Joseph all the best in his future studies, we have no doubt he will achieve great things!
